Wildlife on the Renon

Our private chalet lies on top of our local mountain, the Renon, in the middle of a sunny alpine meadow, bordering a small mixed forest. Often, you’ll see deer, wild hares and hedgehogs in the morning hours or early evenings. These wonderful experiences are part of the fascinating mountain aura at our nature hotel in South Tyrol. Chalet Grumer gives you the chance to enjoy the breath-taking beauty of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage of the Dolomites as you sit on any of the three garden terraces. Dive into the reddish shimmer of the legendary Catinaccio, let your eyes wander over the Sciliar and learn more about the history of Chalet Grumer and the fairy tales of King Laurin.

Hiking, mountain biking, downhill riding and the Mountain World of Chalet Grumer:

Set off into the mountains and climb the summits to experience pure elation. The inviting sunny Renon plateau is great also for hiking and you can ascend to the top of Renon to enjoy a 360-degree panorama and a bird's-eye view stretching from the valley of Eisacktal to the peaks of the Dolomites. With endless unrestricted hiking routes to explore, you’ll love walking along the panoramic trails, as well as more challenging trekking routes. 

The neighbouring mountain, the Kohlern, is where you’ll find what is probably Europe’s most long-standing cable car route. This ascends to a wooden lookout tower, with spectacular views over the city of Bolzano and across to the Mendel pass, South Tyrol’s Table Mountain. From this vantage point, you can see our region’s capital city of Bolzano, as well as the famous world championship track for downhill mountain bikers. You might even meet a talented cyclist.

South Tyrol from the air

You’ll find many of the best places for paragliding, tandem flying or wingsuit gliding very close to our nature hotel. For example, Monte Brento in neighbouring Trento is where athletes take part in annual extreme sports events. During your holiday, you may like to arrange a tandem or helicopter flight over the Sexten Dolomites or go heli-skiing at Kronplatz as a special extra. Your personal concierge, Philip, will be happy to advise you about the many activities and adventures our region has to offer. 

A climbers’ paradise in the Dolomites 

Also, close to our cosy nature hotel are numerous exciting (ice) climbing adventures. The routes start in the beautiful Val Gardena and go as far as the picturesque Val Badia (Alta Badia). We’re happy to arrange for an experienced mountain guide to go with you on your climbing trips and show you the many wonders of nature.

Mountain lakes in South Tyrol

Not only does the South Tyrolean landscape benefit from spectacular panoramic mountain views, but it also boasts many small mountain lakes. Enjoy the magnificent shimmering colours of the famous Lake Braies close to our nature hotel in the Dolomites or take a leisurely stroll around the enchanting emerald-blue Karer Lake. Nearby, you’ll also find Lake Caldaro and Lake Garda. The latter has good gusts of wind for great sailing and windsurfing excursions. Let the sun’s rays rejuvenate and refresh you and breathe in the healthy and fresh mountain air.

Surrounded by the garden and multi-level terraces, you’ll find plenty of privacy for rest and relaxation. Perhaps you would also like to be massaged by the pleasant jets of our heated outdoor whirlpools under the stars, or dive completely into the wellness world of our chalet. 

Relax in our rustic alpine-style sauna area and enjoy the bio-sauna, steam room and classic Finnish sauna. A stone fountain made of dolomitic rock is the centrepiece of our sauna area and offers refreshing cold mountain water. In a setting with wooden beams, our warm indoor swimming pool has a hydro-flow system and massage jets to round off the wellness and spa facilities we offer. You’re free to use all the facilities in our alpine nature hotel, including the fitness room with all sports equipment, the soothing relaxation room, the cosy solarium and the Vital bar with fresh treats.

Our master chef caters for the evening’s culinary delights and provides hearty morning breakfasts. He loves to select his fresh ingredients according to the seasons and these are stylishly prepared for a tasty experience. Using his know-how, special ingredients, traditional and regional products and sophisticated decorations, he serves really creative dishes. He’ll also surprise you with his international gourmet cuisine. Taste the delicacies and treat yourself to the culinary delights of our charming gourmet restaurant with panoramic views.
