The history of Chalet Grumer

The young host from Soprabolzano, Philip, grew up on the picturesque, sun-drenched Ritten high plateau in South Tyrol. When his parents discovered the house on the Ritten around 40 years ago, they were guided by the right instinct. The father, a mountain lover but always heavily involved in business, immediately recognized what an idyllic paradise the then still rather rustic “Grumer Hof” represented.

What started out as a private retreat was gradually expanded over the years and developed into a cozy home for the Benincà family. The children played happily in the great outdoors and the somewhat secluded mountain life was easily accessible thanks to the good connection to the colorful town of Bolzano via the Ritten cable car.

Philip & Alexandra’s world of hospitality

Philip graduated as a young hotel manager. A few years later and with a little more experience abroad, he then completed his studies in tourism management and further developed the art of hospitality in the international hotel industry.

At the same time, Alexandra attended a 2-year tourism management course after graduating from commercial high school. She then completed a bachelor’s degree in economics with a focus on tourism and deepened her experience in various upscale hotels.

During this time, the young host couple got to know each other and discovered a shared passion for a more individual, more personal hospitality than can be found in a traditional hotel. And so, after a loving rededication of the house, the story of our little mountain jewel, the Chalet Grumer, was born, where the doors are open to guests and the hosts look forward to giving them an unforgettable vacation experience.
